SIGNALS + FORGE · A CONCEPT FOR THE ISLANDS

One living picture of three islands.

The cameras, water tanks, generators and Wi-Fi the islands already have, joined into one picture you can question in plain Greek and it answers. And a quiet digital layer that serves residents and visitors without changing how island life feels. This page is a conversation starter, not a sales document.

Ereikoussa Othoni Mathraki
THE FIRST PRINCIPLE

The island stays the island.

People come here to slow down. Nothing we build should interrupt that. No screens in the square, no kiosks on the beach, no technology anyone is forced to touch. The intelligence works in the background for the few people who run things, and every service for residents and visitors is an invitation, not a requirement.

Your phone if you want it. The town office if you prefer a person. The island works either way.

01 · SEE

One quiet picture of everything that matters.

Signals joins what the islands already have into one live view the municipality can simply ask. Which tank is low. Is generator two carrying the load. How many came off the ferry. Where is the leak. Asked in Greek, answered in Greek.

  • Water: tank levels, desalination, leak alerts. Connected to the island's controls, it can switch to the next pump when one fails, so water is not wasted.
  • Power: generators and the mainland line, load matched against arrivals through the day.
  • Harbour: the ferry, the queue at the quay, arrivals counted automatically.
  • Environment: temperature and conditions by area of the island.
02 · SERVE

Useful things for people, on the phone already in their pocket.

Mobile first, and deliberately low key. No app to install, no account to create. A simple page that feels like a note from the town office, in Greek, English, French or Spanish.

  • For residents: report a problem in one tap and see it become a numbered job. Water and power status. Ferry today.
  • For visitors: the ferry, the beaches, the tavernas, the walking paths, in their own language.
  • For the works crew: their day, their jobs, their island, hands free by voice.
03 · BUILD

Forge: whatever the islands need next, built quietly.

Signals is the platform. Forge is our delivery arm, the team that builds the specific things a place actually needs and hands them over working. We use AI to deliver, which means small things get built fast and cost what small things should cost.

  • Data, pulled together: ferry manifests, municipal records, bookings, weather, whatever exists, joined into answers.
  • Small purpose-built apps: a community hall booking page, a harbour arrivals list for the ferry office, a season dashboard for the municipality.
  • Integrations: pumps, generators, Wi-Fi controllers, anything with a connection, brought into the picture.
04 · RUN

Self-contained by design. Little infrastructure is the point.

The islands should not depend on anyone else's network to know their own water level. So the concept is a system that lives on the island and takes care of itself.

  • A small solar-powered node: one quiet cabinet, panel on top, batteries inside. The island's brain, running on the island's sun.
  • Everything processed locally: video and data stay on the island. What leaves is numbers, and only if the island wants.
  • A wireless umbrella over the island: the harbour, the village, the tanks and the generators all talk to each other over the air. No trenches, no cabling project.
  • Satellite backhaul, such as Starlink: used for updates, remote care and the connection between the three islands. If it drops, the island's own picture stays up.
STEP BY STEP

It starts small. It grows as it proves itself.

STEP 1

See it

A working demonstration already exists, built for Ereikoussa, in four languages. Share it, react to it, tell us what is missing.

STEP 2

Prove it on one island

A small pilot: a few cameras and one solar node. It runs on what exists and touches no other system.

STEP 3

Connect the systems

Tanks, pumps, generators, Wi-Fi. Alerts first. Then automatic response where the island's controls allow it, like the pump changeover.

STEP 4

One picture, three islands

A shared operating picture for Ereikoussa, Othoni and Mathraki, linked by satellite. One place for water, power and people. The same model extends to larger islands.

WHY NOW

The funding for small islands already exists.

  • Greek Development Law 4887/2022: investment support of up to 90 percent for islands under 3,100 residents. All three Diapontia islands qualify.
  • The GReco Islands programme (NSRF 2025 to 2032): funding for smart, sustainable island infrastructure. A solar-powered, self-contained system fits its purpose.
  • The EU 100 Smart Cities mission: the municipality is already a member.
PRIVACY

Built for a small community.

No facial recognition. No identity. Aggregate counts only.

Video is processed in the moment and dropped. What remains is counts and status: how many, where, what is running. Built to pass GDPR and Greek data protection review before anything is installed.
